1 打开 jimeng.jianying.com

  4. 配BGM(剪映自带版权音乐)

可灵(图生视频更强)、Runway(海外,效果好但贵)、MoyinCreator(把即梦/可灵接入剧本分镜流程,适合做系列短视频)。

Jimeng AI Hands-on: A Complete Beginner's Guide to AI Video (2026 Edition)

Xiao Kalami · 2026-06-22 · ~12 min read

I'm a film-editing apprentice with zero coding background and no prior AI experience. Last month I used Jimeng for the first time, and now I've produced footage for my first short video, "The Seven-Day Pact."

This is my tested-and-working full workflow—no fluff. After reading, you'll be able to generate your first AI video with Jimeng too.

💡 Who this is for: film-editing apprentices, short-video creators, and beginners wanting to break into AI video. If you already have experience, jump straight to section four.

1. What Is Jimeng, and What Can It Do?

Jimeng is an AI creation platform under ByteDance (an AI tool within jianying.com). Its two core features are:

Difference from Kling: Jimeng's text-to-image quality is higher (better taste), while Kling's image-to-video motion is smoother. My practical strategy: Jimeng for assets → Kling for video → Jianying for editing.

Free quota: refreshes daily, enough for 3-4 short videos. Membership is ~30 RMB/month for faster generation + more quota.

2. Sign Up & Log In (Done in 30 Seconds)

1 Open jimeng.jianying.com

2 Click "Log In" top-right, scan with or log in via your Douyin account (register a Douyin account if you don't have one)

3 After logging in you're auto-redirected to the creation page—no setup needed

⚠️ Note: Jimeng sometimes throws you into an "Agent Mode" page. That's an advanced feature—beginners can ignore it. Click "Generate" at the top → "Image Generation" or "Video Generation" to enter normal mode.

3. First Generation: Text-to-Image (Don't Rush Into Video!)

Many people jump straight to "text-to-video" and get messy results. The correct flow is:

Text-to-Image → pick good images → Image-to-Video

This is far more stable than going straight to text-to-video—success rate doubles.

Case Study: Generating a Character Sheet for "Lin Xiao," the Protagonist of "The Seven-Day Pact"

My prompt (feel free to copy):

Urban suspense-drama male lead, 25 years old, short black hair,
deep eyes, wearing a dark trench coat,
standing under a dim yellow streetlamp,
cold blue tone, cinematic lighting,
realistic style, HD, 9:16 portrait

Generation settings:

After generating, pick your favorite and save locally (click image → "Download" top-right).

💡 Xiao Kalami tip: run two rounds per generation. First round with a shorter prompt to see the rough effect, second round to refine. Jimeng understands Chinese prompts fairly well, but mixing in English keywords works even better (e.g., "cinematic lighting", "movie still").

4. Image-to-Video (The Core Feature, Best Results)

This is Jimeng's most useful feature, and the one I mainly use now.

Steps

1 On the Jimeng homepage click "Video Generation" → "Image-to-Video"

2 Upload the character (or scene) image you downloaded

3 Fill in the motion description (key! determines video quality)

4 Choose duration: 5s (free) or 10s (costs more credits)

5 Click "Generate" and wait (usually 5-15 min, longer at peak hours)

How to Write the Motion Description (Important!)

This determines video quality. A good prompt gives usable footage; a bad one distorts the character or produces odd motion.

❌ Wrong (too vague): "make the person move", "walk", "turn head"

✅ Right (specific):

The person slowly turns their head to look at the camera,
deep gaze, subtle micro-expressions,
background sways slightly for realism,
cinematic, realistic style

Core principles for motion description:

⚠️ Pitfall log: Jimeng's image-to-video queue can exceed 6 hours at peak! I once waited 8 hours with no result. For urgent needs, use Kling as backup (klingai.com, faster image-to-video queue).

5. Download & Use the Generated Video

After generation:

1 Find the video under "Assets" → "Video"

2 Click "Download" at the bottom-right of the video to save locally

3 Import into Jianying (or CapCut), add SFX/subtitles/transitions

My editing flow:

  1. Jimeng generates assets (character shots + scene B-roll)
  2. Jianying: new project, import all assets
  3. Arrange by storyboard, add transitions
  4. Add BGM (Jianying's built-in licensed music)
  5. Add subtitles (Jianying "recognize subtitles" auto-generates)
  6. Export 1080p, post to Douyin/WeChat Channels

6. Credits & Pricing Explained

Plan Daily Credits For Price
Free ~66 credits daily Beginners 0 RMB
Membership More credits + priority Serious projects ~30 RMB/mo

Credit usage reference: text-to-image ~2-5 credits/image, image-to-video ~10-20 credits/clip. Free tier is enough for 3-4 videos daily.

💡 Money-saving tip: run the full flow on the free tier first to confirm stable output before subscribing. Don't top up right away—many people lose interest after three days and waste money.

7. My First Finished Piece: "The Seven-Day Pact" Episode 1 Opening

My first short video made with Jimeng + Jianying:

Posted to Douyin—low views (just 200+), but the whole process needed no filming, no actors, no location. Pure AI generation + editing.

✅ Key takeaway: the core of AI video is storyboard planning, not the tool itself. The tool just turns your ideas into images; the more detailed your storyboard, the better the video.

8. FAQ

Q1: Does Jimeng-generated video have copyright? Can I use it commercially?

Jimeng's ToS states free-tier assets are for personal learning; commercial use requires membership or separate authorization. For official commercial use, refer to Kling/Jimeng enterprise plans or consult platform support.

Q2: Why does my generated video distort the character?

Two reasons: ① motion description too complex for the AI; ② source image resolution too low. Fix: simplify the motion description, use HD source (1024x1024+).

Q3: Queue too long, what to do?

Two options: ① generate 2-6am when the queue is short; ② switch to Kling (klingai.com), faster image-to-video queue, also great results.

Q4: What computer spec do I need?

Jimeng generates in the cloud—no dedicated GPU needed, a normal office laptop works. As long as you can open a browser with normal internet. My own PC has no NVIDIA GPU and it doesn't affect anything.

Q5: Besides Jimeng, what similar tools?

Kling (stronger image-to-video), Runway (overseas, great but pricey), MoyinCreator (plugs Jimeng/Kling into a script-and-storyboard pipeline, good for serial short videos).

9. What's Next?

Jimeng is just a tool; what's truly valuable is using AI tools to make monetizable content.

My own learning roadmap:

  1. Master Jimeng text-to-image + image-to-video (this week)
  2. Learn Kling as Jimeng backup (next week)
  3. Use MoyinCreator to batch the whole pipeline (week 3)
  4. Ship a first monetizable short-video series (week 4)
💡 Xiao Kalami's advice: don't get obsessed with the tools, start making content early. A first video done badly beats "waiting until it's perfect to start" by a hundred times.

I'm Xiao Kalami, a film-editing apprentice figuring out how to make money with AI tools. Questions welcome in the comments.
